Heapey to Limbrick | |
Date | 4/12/2005 |
Starting Point | Blackburn Rd Lay by (SD594205) |
Distance | 5 miles |
On a really dull, and sometimes wet day we had a walk from Blackburn Road, Heapey to the Black Horse at Limbrick via "Secret Valley" and the back of the Nab and Grey Heights. |
A motley crew assemble on a footbridge coming out of "Secret Valley" and nearing Heapey Rd
A couple of miles later and we arrive at Grey Heights summit, the highest point on Healey Nab
Leaving the summit we headed for the "back" of The Nab, the grass a lovely golden colour highlighted by nthe blue and grey storm cloud
The bracken is a nice rich brown, and in the distance are the Pine Woods at Brinscall
Rain's on the way
Leaving the Nab and heading to Limbrick, these structures are in a field. I think they are old inspection/air holes for the pipeine that took water from the old (and first built) reservoir, Chorley Reservoir. It was built by the Chorley Water Cmpany to supply water to Chorley

The sign at The Black Horse, rumoured to be the second oldest pu in the UK
