Harter Fell, Kentmere Pike & Shipman Knotts

Date                   17/3/2002

HARTER FELL - one of the noblest mountain scenes in the district. And how the larks sing on Harter Fellat dawn on a summer day

KENTMERE PIKE - falling precipitously into the narrow jaws of Longsleddale: a most impressive scene

SHIPMAN KNOTTS - this fell is usually climbed on the way to Harter Fell from the south, and its rock should be welcomed for there is precious little beyond

Walks done by: Jed and Neil
Weather:  Very mixed. Temp cool
Distance 8.25 miles
Started at: Longsleddale
Height:-
Harter Fell 2539'
Kentmere Pike 2397'
Shipman Knotts 1926'

This was a walk I did with Neil. We'd both bought an identical blue/back walking coat and this was our first walk with them. And need them we did. This was only Neil's second fell walk ever (and my 3rd after a twenty five year break). We had a great day.

Very sadly Neil passed away in December 2016 but I have always remembered this walk we did.

RIP Neil
